'76 SG ('62 control/guard style with small block inlays) I traded to a pawn shop for a no-name Silverburst Strat copy
'74 SG (same as the '76) in Naturalburst that had a headstock repair.
'84 Flying V with no pickguard, Kahler, and the 3-color pinstriping - wanted that exact color scheme since I first saw the ads back in the 80s.
Wish I'da kept the pickups out of that Import Charvel Star I had The guitar was nice, but the pickups were better
While many were sold/traded to get other things, it's not so much a question of hindsight (i.e. traded gold for lead, except in the case of the SG and the Strat copy), it's more an issue of "why did I tell myself that I had too many and should get rid of one to get another one?"
One I can't really say I regret getting rid of was a Kramer Focus 1000 I got for $180 from a pawn shop - Salmon Pink, OFR, one-hum wonder. Traded to a friend of mine for the '76 SG AND a Kramer Striker 300 with an original non-fine-tuning Floyd and some crapass EVH paintjob over pearl white. Even had neon orange striped on the head! The body stripes were green and black. I scraped them all off as they were on top of the finish. I swapped the bridge hummer out for a full shred, added Sperzels, and then sold the guitar to a guy for $150.
Wish I still had the pickup that came outta that guitar - no matter which guitar I put it in, it sounded the same - and it had The Brown Sound
The guitar itself was ok. I wonder what it'd go for on Ebay if it still had the stripes
Newc
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
My biggest regret... Only having 1 Jackson/Charvel!!!

Newc, it seems like the whole guitar selling in your life is the biggest regret.

Just pick one!

well, lately I stumbled upon my old Gibson LP, sold it to my dad, and I played it. still plays like sh!t, but sounds better than my charvels, and that was not to pleasant to discover, but it financed my present amp which I already have for eh... 3 years I guess, a record and still going strong
Due to sentimental value, I regret selling an old Fender Lead III (Strat knock-off) that my mom got me when I was a kid.
It was a beautiful Cherry Sunburst (transparent, with smooth color transitions and no gaudy, bright red clown mouth around the edge, as some Cherry Sunbursts have), which is now my favorite color, and I now spend a great deal of energy seeking out really nice Cherry Sunburst guitars.
I also probably shouldn't have given up my then-mint-condition 1H, maple/maple necked, 22 fret, Floyded BC Rich Warlock in neon green. I gave it to my brother as a token of appreciation for painting my car for free, and he gave it to his kid. Now I go over there and see it laying on the floor of the kid's bedroom with chips on the edges.
Sold the Leopard {modded w/Floyd and EMG 85} to a buddy about 10 years ago for $500.00. Always missed it and knew it was a big mistake. Didn't see him much for years. About 2 years ago, I mentioned the guitar, and found out he sold it. Ended up tracking it down and got it back for $250.00! Sold this Strathead to another buddy...he will not sell it back. This one was cool too...long gone.
No regrets here. I just don't sell anything. I'm real selective on the stuff I buy, so if I get it, there's a good reason and I keep it.
Back in high school, I had a friend who wanted to start playing the guitar. Because I wanted to help him out (and I had three other guitars to use), I sold him my creamy white Model 2.
Today, he doesn't even play it. It sits in his garage, where it probably gets fried when the summer temperatures hit 112 degrees...and he won't sell it back to me because he just might play it again someday.
