Hmmm, I thought they were active. Maybe they were just passive like the Jacksons and worked with the active circuitry?

The Reflex in Davey´s fusion were definitely active..., no external circuit, unlike the jacksons which TJ noted were of themselves passive, with an external preamp (sometimes also without, esp. in the early ontario era where every USA axe was essentially still a custom build meaning the specs could vary widely if so desired)

I don't know who actually manufactured the pups that were in my Model 4 (anyone know?)but, they said Jackson on them and it used a battery. I assumed they were "active". Were they passive with external active circuitry then??

The Reflex Reds pups i have, have an external (not in the pickups)circuit in a small enclosure stuck inside the guitar. Maybe the external electronics are for Gain or Mid Boost circuitry only. They were in the guitar when i got it used. Doubt if they were original. Could you get production (not custom shop) J/C guitars with Reflex pickups?

As Toejam mentioned earlier, Jackson made their own electronics "in house". If it is branded "Jackson", Jackson made it. yes, they were passive pickups with external active circuitry.

you sure could! For a short while, they were an upgrade option

                                RR1 - EMG 81/81

While I like the tone, I'm curious about swapping the bridge to an 85. Just about everyone here who has an 85 in the bridge raves about the tone.
