Welcome to the JCF Toryglen_Boy!

As you'll see, Ibanez and ESP are most hated brands around here by most. I don't dislike them myself, but I don't own any either!

The PS-2 is from the Performer Series, which were the series below the Professional Series during the mid-90s.
Some were made in Japan and some in Korea
but I don't know which yours is. IN their time I'd say the PS-2 is roughly
equivalent to a DK-2 as far as place in line, though DK-2s are a little better made. PS-2s sell for $100 to $200 in the US.

I hope that helps a bit!

My first Jackson was a ps-2 and its still my main axe. I changed the bridge pickup and thats the only thing ive done to it. Plays and sounds great and DOESNT GO OUT OF TUNE!!!!!

Congrats on buying a GOOD guitar!

I believe your guitar is made in Japan, I think the 12 fret dots were spaced further apart on the Korean made models. The serial number should start with 09 as well on the Japanese models.

The PS2 was my first Jackson as well; I made the transition from a POS low end Ibanez (lowest of the lows RG170) to that guitar. It's a good playing guitar made from decent quality materials. The hardware on it isn't the greatest but the only thing I really had a problem with was the bridge pickup. I thought it was a bit muddy sounding and eventually replaced it with a Duncan JB.

Congrats on your first Jackson!

I know little about the non-USA Jacksons although my first was a DKMG. Decent guitar. When I strated buying a ton of USA Soloists and RR's, there was no turning back. All USA for me. When I started playing 25+ years ago, my first guitar, which I still have, was a Guild S-300D. Kind of an SG/LP groove to it. I went to a Dean Baby Z, a Gibson (soloist copy), then to Strats. All through the early to late 80's, I wanted a Jackson but couldn't afford them. Now, I'm 36, still play metal/rock/blues, and am in a position to buy all the Jacksons I want. And I've done just that. Soloists (H-S-S) was always my preference and I have somewhere around 7 USA Soloists. To me, they're just the best guitar for my purposes. I'd never own a PRS even though they're great instruments. I was an Ibanez Jem player for the last 7 or 8 years but they're retired now. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, Soloists are infinitely better, IMO, than any Jem, RG, or S-series Ibanez. I have only played a couople of ESP's. The only one I'd buy is Lynch's skull and crossed swords graphic ESP from the Lynch Mob album cover. The PS series Jackson is a great 1st Jackson. Soon, you'll get your hands on a USA and you'll probably feel a huge difference. Of course, a good setup can make nearly any guitar play great. I think you'll be happy with your new guitar.
