One question though now that I see it closer. Are the letters just engraved or is there black paint or black epoxy in the letters that make them look dark? Also, are these polished or is that a satin finish?

they're polished, and i believe that there's some paint in there brining it out. at least that's how the LTD plates are.

dave, i think that has more to do with the tuners being gold plated, and that truss rod cover being brass. those odd RR plates were brass. at least the ones i saw at the factory were.
