• Warmoth is no help for 24 fret necks..

There's always tons of 24 fret bodies out there for Jacksons/Kramers etc and I'd like to build my own mutt but good 24 necks are tough to find. I emailed Warmoth to see if they would ever make a "real" 24 fret neck and not that extended fretboard crap they have and they basically said no. Are all 24 fret neck pockets that much different that they can't just do a little CNC programming like their other necks??

Anyways...bummer....it would have been cool to grab a Kelly body and toss a neck on there with ebony and star inlays or something.

I know what you mean. I've been lucky enough to grab a couple of import 24 fret maple necks (rarest of them all ) and a USA 24 fret neck with MOP block inlays, but otherwise they've been very hard to find. You can find rosewood Performer necks, but I really wish I could run across some early 90's Pro Dinky necks (24 frets, ebony, mop fins ) I'd hate to put a USA neck on an import body

Maybe FMIC will see about getting Warmoth an official license to do Jackson necks, even if they were "dumbed down" to import-quality-only that'd be fine

Not yet - I'm half-hoping to find a Warrior body for it I was going to get that one on Ebay a coupla weeks ago but missed the end - never knew if it sold or not. It was an XT (2 knobs and a 3-way toggle) but it was going cheap. If it didn't sell and it comes up again I'll snag it

Either that or if I can find a decent import Rhoads body I'd like to try modding the neck pocket to take a 24 fret neck

I've got the opposite problem. I've got a 22 fret 25-1/2" scale neck in absolute mint condition, and I can't find a body I like to go with it. I'm not big on the strat shape bodies, I prefer the dinky style, but they all seem to be for 24 fret necks.

          Anyone have any suggestions?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They do make real 24-fret necks that are the same size as their 22-fretters (no overhang)... except they're 24.75" scale. If you buy a body from them, they'll charge you $50 to change the bridge placement so it conforms to short scale.
