Info, info, info???

I'm trying to find info on a Charvel Jackson guitar serial number 287198.
It's black, maple bolt-on neck with rosewood fretboard, strat-like body
with 3 jackson p/u's, jackson gear heads and a floyd rose tailpiece. Any idea how to identify it and place a value on it ??
Considering buying it used from someone. it's in near mint condition. they say it was new in 1986 or 1987. The charvel/jackson website didn't show that serial number. Also the plate is stamped PO Box 2344, Fort Worth Texas. Appreciate any help.

it sounds like a Model 3...made in Japan.

Yep. Ft Worth on the plate means it was made in Japan. All the neckthrough Charvels were made in Japan as well.

How do you switch between pickups? Blade switch or toggles?

I finally got something concrete. He has the reciept, dated 2/17/89, but even the reciept HAS NO MODEL NUMBER, just the serial number. Wierd.

Yup, I agree with Hamner1 that it is a Model 4.

That definitely sounds like a Model 4 to me.

Thanks for the help. I looked at the list on Orion, and realized that some didn't have electronics. This one does. The Model 6 is the only one they list with 3 p/u's and electronics, and it was made '86-'89. I guess that settles it. It must be a 6!

The model 4 does have the active electronics also. After 86' I believe.

The model 6 is a neck-thru version that I believe also has neck binding.

Model 4 or Model 6, the MIJ model series Charvels have some awesome necks!

Also, the model 4 is a hum-single-single 3 pick-up configuration.

There are three toggle switches, no blades.
It has the triangular inlays on fretboard if that helps. I looked at Orion Bluebook but you need exact model number. Anyone know a phone number to reach someone at Charvel/Jackson???

Since it is bolt on, I would say it is a model 4. I believe those are going for about $300.00 (US).
