  • Help I.D. this model ...and pickup questions

    I found a 170.00 pawn shop special that is a fabulous player. (this should be an easy one for the experts)

    Two questions:
    1) What is this model called?
    2) What new pickup would be best match the 2 originals in output / tone?

    Specs:
    * Ft Worth neck plate
    * serial # 268xxx
    * 3 single coils
    * traditional strat style trem bridge / non-locking nut
    * pointy headstock / small logo / jackson logo tuners

    This thing plays killer...but one of the pickups is missing. Sure, I *could* wait for an original one on ebay to appear (whatever those are called) but what new easily available pickup would be a decent match.

    I just found the identification website...looks to be a 1987 Model 1A with J100 pickups!

      you done good, son. Model 1A it is. Mine was a gift from my wife and I play the shit out of it. I know she paid more than you did for yours.

      Can't help you with your pickup question. I don't mind the neck and middle pickups - have been considering a Lil' 59 for the bridge, but that's not a direct replacement (tonewise) by any stretch.
      Hail yesterday

        This pickup should do the trick. You will probably get it cheap too.
