  • Has anyone heard of a Jackson "Dynasty XL" ???

I was browsing Guitar Center's used gear online and came across a Jackson "Dynasty XL." I'm a big Jackson guy and I've never heard of such a thing. I assumed it was a mislabeled Dinky XL - and I wanted it. So I called the GC and the salesman checked out the guitar for me and said the truss rod cover actually says DYNASTY XL. I googled it and searched JCF but found no info. What the hell is this thing?

Well, it was dirt cheap and I'm a guitar addict so I bought it and it should arrive here by Monday. Is this a limited run or store exclusive or something? I'm guessing it's early 90's because it says professional on the headstock and has the narrow EMG sized single coil routes (probably J-100's)

Someone probably put a custom engraved truss rod cover on it.

Haha, I hadn't thought of that. So are you thinking Dinky XL too?

Yep, I would think Dinky XL.

Cool. I'm always nervous buying a guitar via phone/internet without holding it in my hands. Worst scenario: it plays like sh*t and I'll return it to my GC and only loose the $25 shipping cost. But I got it for $179 (with case), so how could I resist?

Seems like a sweet deal for that price. Hopefully it won't be shitty.

Haha, i found lots of KISS and Michael Jackson stuff when I Googled Jackson Dynasty XL.

UPDATE: Well, the guitar arrived and I should have guessed it... the truss rod cover clearly says DINKY XL. Apparently Guitar Center employees can't read.

By the way, this Dinky XL kicks major ass. I've played a few DK-2s and didn't dig the feel, for some reason the older Jackson/Charvels always do it for me. Great neck and easily 9/10 condition. With shipping and tax the total was $217.31 and that's with the original hard Jackson/Charvel hard case.

IMO that's a smoking deal!! Nice score! And how the fuck could they mistake "Dinky" for "Dynasty"?? Retards!
