real or not

I'm thinking of buying a used Jackson guitar for $150.00
I'm assuming its a dinky but the only identifying thing on it is the neck plate.
it reads 040 10004
it has one double humbucker and two single pickups, chrome, no name tuners,.two knobs and a 5 way switch.
it is deep blue in color....it looks like this one....
I looked on a couple sites and they dont list this number because they only list ones made in the USA umbers.
so, how do I go about looking to see if this guitar is real or not?
is there any real musicians/guitar experts that could meet me and let me know if its real?.

It's real. You could pay someone to authenticate this indonesian POS for you, but either way, if you're willing to put an extra hundred or so and sometime you will find MUCH nicer made in japan jackson/charvels. If you want good money for value, check out the Charvel models 1 through 6. Mind you M5 and M6 will set you back more, you can find some nice bolt on 1-4 for under 400$. I payed about 300$ for my model 4 and it outplays a lot of way more expensive guitars.

POS and yes, it's real.

It's real. You could pay someone to authenticate this indonesian POS for you,

8 digit serial of this era was made in India (not "indonesia").

It's an older JS-1
POS and yes, it's real.

Rj, I believe HSS would make this a JS20, serial indicates 2004.
