Whatever they do, you've got to agree that this new colour/quarter is a masterstroke of marketing genius.

Excellent point made here. You release a model with 10 colors...you can pick one up in whatever color whenever you want. With these, if you wait, you run the risk that you won't be able to get the color if you want it b/c there is a limited run. Granted, there are typically a few leftovers of each color, but we are still within the first year of production. Give it another year and good luck getting your hands on a Tang So Cal.

Gloss black like that is actually once of the biggest bitches to snap well, due to reflections of just about everything in the vicinity.

Black guitar's have that hard core metal vibe to them!! And I don't mind finger prints all over it by the end of the night playing. It might have a new dent and beer all over it so what the hell....Use it or lose it!!! It's hard to keep black looking nice so don't try just play your ass off and have fun with it..Black Charvel's rock!!

I did have a black SoCal when they first came out last year:



I also bought my Candy Tangerine soon after.

I sold the black one to buy a Candy Green when those came out, because I knew that I could always find a black one again at any time since that was the base model color.

That one now belongs to me and currently looks like this:
