Hi mate. Yeah it is a standard San Dimas Rear route with a so-cal pickguard on. The pickguard came from Pickguard Heaven with a custom route option. If you go down that road of having a pickguard made - make sure you request it is routed for an EMG pickup if you are fitting an EMG. I had to get the dremel out to fit the EMG on the white one.

That Live in Stockholm concert was just superb. The versions of Empty Rooms and The Loner are just absolute perfection. The tone, the emotion, the feel, the band's tight grouping - it all just came together that night. Sadly it was the only Gary Moore tour of that era I didn't get to go and see personally. Saw the '85, '89 and '90 tours. Just not the '87 one. :-(

I should also probably say - although I did mine on a quite a good budget (i.e, didn't spend too much money), I would really recommend trying to get a second hand USA Adrian Smith and using that as a base, then either get a custom made neck or find someone selling a cheap USA Charvel neck, or really go to town and hunt down a nice Charvel birdseye maple neck. Just my $0.02 worth speaking from experience of building it.

cool thanks for confirming it can be done, actually i kind of like the idea of the rear control cavity for easier access for battery changes
true it not an exact reproduction of Garys original one but close emough for me.....
what was the the custom route option on the pickguard (the EMG) or something else? .if you dont mind me asking

They sell So-Cal spec pickguards which obviously normally come with 2 Hum, Volume and switch holes. So the custom option was to only have 1 hum instead of 2 and no pot holes drilled as I wanted to keep the existing San Dimas slot.

I think it's great you guys are building these tribute replicas. Gary's two Charvels are awesome machines and he got great tone out of them. Three 100 watt Marshalls with a Super Tube Screamer and an EMG 81 Holy Gain Batman!!
The Live at Isstadion Stockholm show really is one of the best eighties recorded concerts ever.
I burned my VHS copy to DVD but the original Super VHS with a HQ VHS deck, the audio is mind blowing.
Hoping they will use the first gen masters when it is finally released on DVD. Neil Carter told me that they didn't do any behind the scenes footage like on the Emerald Aisles video, the original master has the full length Loner and a longer Rockin' Every Night plus Friday On My Mind extended as well.
As it was an NFL Films production, it has excellent production values as well as superb editing, hopefully all that will remain intact..

He didn't play Friday on my mind..... only in soundcheck. I wish they'd release the whole set list with victims, shapes and murder in the skies on.

That is a killer Japanese Charvel. Would be correct with chrome hardware as fitted but with a black anodized nut as per the original. I assume that the white has yellowed over the years. Does anyone know about this limited production run as described in the ads text?

This is the most correct replica I have ever seen other than a one off Japanese luthiers effort that was non-Charvel. Killer!!

Here is the one I saw on a Japanese website many years ago and a Japanese friend told me it cost something like $3.5K in Japan at that time less import so..
                              The original donor guitar:

This has the correct double hum rout as on the original:

What do you think the body wood is on this copy??

                              The original:

Wish Charvel would do a version of this guitar, since it was never specifically made in it's final form by Charvel (By Keith Page Gary's guitar tech, who also did the red one) it isn't technically an artists model so could be built free of copyright issues!!

                                Moore pics:

The UK Ebay guitar says it is made of ash, what does the above guitar look like in bodywood? Also though the one off Japanese guitar shows a EMG 58 the original I am fairly sure has an EMG 81!
Here also is one of my Photobucket Gary Moore Charvel albums for your info:
