Did you ever get to try the duncan pearly gates? I have a PG i wanted to try in my charvel but never got around to it
BTW if you put a alnico 5 into a duncan distortion you wind up with a JB,
they are the same pu with different mags.

Yes, I did. It sounded good but the output difference between it and my main SO Cal (JB/59 setup) was too great.
I'm still trying to find something that isn't so bright or top endy...it's the guitar I'm telling you.
Right now it's sporting the Duncan Dist with an A5.
So basically a JB.
I did order some custom wound p/u's from MHD.
I explained my situation to him and basically what I have coming is a JB/A5 type with less highs, extra mid punch and a tight low end.
He offers a free rewind if I'm not happy but I think it'll do.
