I'm interested in seeing how you've place the tone knobs and or replaced the selector switch in a new So Cal or San Dimas after installing EMG's or Blackouts. I like the Seymour stock passives but just can't get away from the active's on my other rigs.

There is no need to replace the selector switch (did you mean, like, relocate the selector?) or add a tone knob. EMG's will work fine with just a volume.
I had an 89B/85N setup in both of my Pro Mods for a while. Just a volume (push/pull for the 89's single-coil mode) on each.
Not to start the whole "EMG's suck ass" festival, but when I put the SH5 bridge and Jazz neck in my blue Pro Mod before I sold it, I noticed how much better it sounded than the black one with EMG's, for anything but death metal rhythm guitar. I sold several sets of EMG's shortly afterwards.
You may have to radius the corners of the pickup routes a little to get the EMG's to fit.

Now that Ive played the new San Dimas for a while I do think I'll keep the Duncans. I have a BOSS GT-10 and ME-70 and I can tweak my tone better with the duncan then Ive been able to with the EMG's.
Sorry Ive been absent from here. I got a Rootkit Virus from Facebook a couple weeks ago and it took a while to resolve the issue.Charvel San Dimas 1985 and 2009 1S 2H,ESP KH-2, Dean MAB1. Randall RM50 (Hellatone 60L's,V30 & CL 80).BOSS ME-70 & GT10,RC-2,Jamman, BBE Sonic Stomp.

Depending on what you like to play, if you like tight chunky palm-muted low-end, the Duncan Custom will sound pretty damned good in that guitar, at least it did to me.
I don't care much for the JB myself (unless I want to sound like I'm from 1982, but it's just too "loose" on the bottom end) but I find the Custom is really versatile and sounds great in about everything.
