  • Ian Gillian with Black Sabbath - Iron Man

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XxsDdxrJi8

Horrible recording - I had never heard any of this stuff before. I don't know much about Ian regardless. I heard the version of Paranoid (which i'm sorry to say really sucked with him on vocals) but Iron Man actually sounds good with him on vocals. still sounds like a cover band to me but.. Still kind of cool. Though i think it could do with out the screeching :/

Is this stuff actually available to buy somewhere?
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Trashed is an awesome song off Born Again. Iommi totally kicked it.

I saw Ian with Black Sabbath and it was better that I expected without Ozzy/DIO. It was a great show. I saw them in a small hockey rink in Toledo OH, general admission and we got up second row, crammed in like sardines. Ian was an odd frontman as 98% of the time you couldnt see his eyes even that close up. he reminded me of those caveman cartoons where the long equal length hair, from the neck up you couldnt tell if it was the front or back of his head

They canceled the Portland, Ore. show on that tour, so I never got to see it.

I think that was the proposed second U.S. leg of the tour that never happened because Ian left to join the Deep Purple reunion.

Gillan did some of the material very well, but he did too much screaming on that tour--his voice has never been the same since. And he joined Sabbath after having surgery on his vocal cords, so it's not like he should have been straining his voice that way to begin with.

I agree 100%. This is one of the most evil, dark and moody sounding albums they ever did, Zero the Hero kicks ass! Tony's guitar sounds like it was played by the Devil himself on this album.

And don't forget "Digital Bitch" on Born Again. "She's got 5 Rollers and a fine estate...a big house up on the Hill. She throws more parties just to celebrate, her life is one ginormous thrill."
                      "Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
                      Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

I appreciate Born Again now but at the time I thought it was a let down following Mob Rules.

I'm pretty sure there was no such thing as "ginormous" back in 1983... It's enormous in the song btw.

Ray Gillen was my fave Sabbath singer...he could sound evil and soulful at the same time...The Eternal Idol demo had poor production, but his voice still sounded killer!

Ray singing Children of the Sea...

It's "ginormous" in the lyric sheet, and I'm quite sure that's what Ian sang, as well.
