such a great song, I'm not sure who butchered it more, Will Smith or Paul lol

I didn't know Paul played with Jeff Berlin, Jeff is god!

Well its cool to see Paul playing stuff like that but, i really felt that some parts of his solo in the first song where really out of context and sounded allmsot as horrable as Billy Sheehan on Bass Day( playing his typical wankfest over a smooth jazz tune).

Who are The Evil Stepsisters?? Is that an early Gilbert band?

        I found this... http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=rtwS0k...eature=related

Jeff Martin on the drums as well as vox, pretty cool.

On guitar forums people always post Paul Gilbert Youtube vids, but has the guy ever been a part of a classic SONG?
I know he can play some crazy shred stuff, but does he do songs? I'm not averse to hair metal, I even enjoy early Poison stuff, but I don't remember Mr Big even having songs as good as Poison.

            Enlighten me!

Oh BTW he totally ruined that Satch song. Looks a lot like EVH in the vid.

Poison has better songs than Mr. Big? Yikes! I was never a huge Mr. Big fan, but they had their share of cool songs. Green Tinted Sixties Mind is one. There were plenty of others.

Have you never listed to Racer X or any of Paul's solo albums? Second Heat (Racer X) is a classic in my mind. I love those songs. I also highly recommend Paul's solo albums Burning Organ and Space Ship One. The guy writes great songs. He's not just a mindless shredder.

Mr. big DID have a number #1 song on charts. To Be With You. Even tough it was written by Eric Martin, I don't think that you can just ignore that.

Mr. Big was pretty sucessful and that was Pauls venture into pretty much strait head hard rock songs with Billy Sheehan. They got tons of radio air play. Paul CAN do the SONG but choses to be challenged musically vs 3 chord pop song forumla.

I'm willing to bet that both Paul and Billy coule play any Poison song if they flipped their guitar & bass left handed and strung right

Although I think Racer X sucked much balls as a band and Paul tends to play same sounding scales up and down too much, he definetly can write good songs. Mr. Big had some great tunes and Paul's solo albums are supprisingly fresh sounding, very hook oriented mostly. But sometimes he doesn't play for the song and that's a headache to me.
Now Poison truly sucks, The only album I really liked was the one with Richie Kotzen, he made some groovy tunes and the production was great. The album with Blues Saranceno had great leads but not very good songs IMO.

I wasn't a huge Mr. Big fan, but imo they crafted a much better song than Poison. I am being 100% honest when I say I have never listened to an entire Poison song all the way through. Radio or TV, I couldn't change the fuckin' channel fast enough, or leave the room quick enough if it was at a party. I don't think I've ever even heard one of CC's solos, come to think of it. Was he any good?

Imo PG spent most of his time in Mr Big playing for the song... Racer X was a bit of a wank (but still fun!) band at the beginning, but I really like some of the stuff on the later albums like Superheroes for the songs and less wanking.

That was some cool archival stuff. The videos he posted with Paul and Russ Parrish from The Atomic Punks was really cool.

As far as the debate on Mr. Big vs Poison.... Well, I always claimed to be a Mr. Big fan before the frist Mr. Big album was released. Even with Blues Saraceno in Poison, I was never really a big fan.
