I'm going to see them sometime on this tour, though I'm not sure if it will be in Philly or New York atm. As for those new EVH guitars, I swear Ed got that idea after looking at mine

It is likely not a JumboTron. More likely an LED display by the likes of Barco or Litehouse.

JumboTrons haven't been made for years, AFAIK.

Not sure what you mean - I went to the Charlotte show, and the huge video screen above the band worked the entire time. I think it seemed black and white at first (don't remember now if that changed later or not), but it definitely was working (showing what the cameras were pointing at).

the Greensboro show was absolutly amazing!

Dave's singing was great and his stage presence was more like that of a game show host
than the drunk flying ninja he used to be.
not saying that i didn't love that.
but i don't think i've ever heard him sing as good on any live cut or boot disc from the past.

                  it really blew me away.

like i said in the other thread: "Wolfie is truely a Van Halen."
still young, and new to the whole thing. you know, its kinda like the first son of a new king
                  - he didn't have to bust his ass to get there. he's just expected to be the best.
you can tell this is a new experience for him. but he is royalty...
so his first gig ever is eveyone else's life goal as a musicial. to play sold out areans.
i'm anxious to see him down the road when he's comfortable enough to cut loose and run around like his daddy.
but he's got it, he really does, he is worthy of his last name.
so now it really is "D.L.R. and the Van Halens".

It must have been my side but it was definitely not working. Everyone was commenting on it during and after the show. The big screen behind the band was working but not the overhead (again, on my side) hanging in the middle of the arena. I was off to the side on Wolfie's end WAAYYY up. I eventually moved down to get a better view.

I think it would have been better for Eddie to nurture Wolfie with his own band doing his own gig. As a lifelong VH fan, I just can't accept anything other than the original four as representing the band. It may be just me that's hung up on that. At least when Mike and Ed have made amends they can do yet another tour that will generate interest again as being the complete and original band.

What does everyone else think about the backing vocals? Pre-recorded or not? I vote yes on that.

                      i think they were live.
it didn't sound like michael anthony's voice. he has a tembre all of his own. and while yes that was missing, wolfie's harmonies were right on. and mixed perfectly with his dad's backing vocals aswell. Vocally the band was amazing.

Okay - I thought you were talking about the big vid behind the band. You are correct - I don't think the large scoreboard thing hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the arena was on during the actual show.

re: vocals - I thought Wolf did a good job, and I don't think they were MA recorded. Just my opinion.

I still stand by my initial post - they were ridiculously good. I'm sure I'm biased, but I thought they were as tight as they were when I saw them in '81 and '82. Not as acrobatic and running all over the place, but heck three of them are 25 years older - they're liable to pull a muscle or break something; although they did look in pretty good shape.

I dont think michael anthony's vocals were piped in thru the pa either....i was thinking about it, and if anyone's vocals were to be pre-recorded and piped in, it would be eddie's....i wonder how that speculated half-tongue removal for cancer treatment would affect vocals?

Hell, FLY TO THE SHOW LIKE I DID!

I went to Greensboro and it was an amazing show. Everything I had been waiting for. I was so out of my mind from the excitement that I am still burned out.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.
