[img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] This is pointless commotion. Even if they do get back together, what does that REALLY mean? Eddie's talents are once again squandered on a lame band?

I've never liked Van Halen because they epitomize 80s radio cheese. Eddie is such an incredible player and such a great musician, he would do well to cut an instrumental solo album and stop wasting his time getting caught up in the "lead singer" game. He would recieve nothing but acclaim if he went the Jeff Beck or Joe Satriani route... he just gets laughed at spending the rest of his life playing "Panama" and "Jump".

If I may chime in...I'm a bit surprised that some of you guys can't just give an opinion one way or another but rather rip VH to shreds. Ed has made his mark in musical history and will always be remembered for his early work in my opinion. Who can now smoke who is not important. Nobody says he should continue to hone his skills to keep up with everyone else, he's done his part and you and I know it. If you remember Clapton was regarded as "Best Guitarist" for a number of years but his stuff is like beginner licks for the aspiring musician. All I'm saying is I'd show a little more respect no matter how you see the guy now. We'll all be smoked by someone else one day.

I agree with you one hundred percent, heartfielder. It seems that Eddie takes a lot of hits around here, while others(RR) are revered to the point of lunacy.
EVH has always been my hero regardless of his personal life, VHIII, his bad breath, whatever. The man is the reason I play and the one whose music I turn to when I need a boost. If I openly admitted how I feel about Randy Rhoads, I'd be flamed so fast my ass would be red. But, it's cool to kick around Eddie because so many people can "out shred" him these days and his recorded work has been spotty.
Although...I do agree that my last five major label albums were much better than Eddie's, and my worldwide tours grossed much more money, and the pussy I had on the road was much younger and hotter than the stuff EVH was slaying, and I have certainly inspired more people to play the guitar. So yeah, EVH does suck because, just like all you other JCF'ers, I have accomplished much more in the musical world.

This is THE lamest reunion announcment, ever. Put some effort into this. Make it exciting. They now have a new pic of the band on the site and they look both like shit and pissed off.

I don't need to hear Poundcake and Summer Night's again. Give me some Full Bug and Light up the sky. Never gonna happen. I'm pissed!

I haven't seen VH since 98 so this is going to be fucking awsome. They have a shit load of new songs ready to go and Eddie's playing his best in years, that's what sammy said on stern this morning

I just hope they don't try to write any new music. I'll go out on a limb here and state that Gary Charone would have been successful in Van Halen if Eddie had actually written some decent tunes. Van Halen 3 sucked because the songs sucked and even DLR couldn't have saved that CD.

I'll be the first to stand in line and pay $100 a ticket to go see Eddie shred again. I just hope the whole thing isn't ruined by a lame attempt at putting out a new CD(think Metallica). From what I've heard so far, looks like the new CD will be another "Best Of" so maybe they're on the right track.

The first album will be a best of #2, It will have a couple new tunes on it though.

I personally like 3, not the best vh cd but still rocked.

Really I hope that they do something and tour...my Van Halen phase passed when I was 17, so I'm not gonna go see them, but I feel kind of bad for all the fans that have been let down over the years by hearing this stuff and nothing ever happening.

I'm gonna stay as far away from this as I possibly can.
My memories of seeing VH on the first four tours are untarnished, and there's just NO WAY Ed and the boys are gpoing to deliver a show that even holds a candle to the real thing.
