• Priest/Queensryche -Boo!!!!

Well well went this past tuesday to see'em and man-well hell I don't know what to say???
Queensryche was solid,Tate was right on the money-the only bad thing was the played one song from the first album, one from operation mindcrime, one from the warning-then the rest was from the tribe,frontiers-oh well I was hoping for some of the early ones. But all in all I was very happy with them.
Now Priest-I left early-Rob spent more time back stage changing costumes singing from the back stage than being on the stage-anything new he was back stage for at least 1/2-3/4 of the song??? Then when he was on the platforms he had a death grip and it took him a whole song to walk (very slowly) to the end of the platform. He stayed out during the classics but othe than that he was always gone from the stage and singing behind the stage-All in all I think the band was great but what the hell is up with Rob?? I know he old/older but hell he would have been better on a go buddy-so I just left after Diamonds and Rust-man just very disappointed with Rob.Anybody else notice this?? Maybe because I only had 3 beers??

I thought queensryche was doing nothing after mindcrime? Tate hasnt hit the high notes live since i saw them on the rage tour.He does the songs good, but doesnt go for the thoat like he used to. Preist should be good but i dont get the costume changes, does he think he's elton john?lol.

Any truth that the opening to the stage under the drums is a huge closet that halford comes out of ?

I don't get the costume changes? I remember during the Turbo tour Dave Holland wasn't playing on the majority of the older tunes. He'd be going for cymbal hits about a half second after the sound. lol. It was quite obvious he was playing to a track or there was a drummer in Rob's understage closet.

Holland was too busy looking for little boys to play with, lol. I saw that tour but dont remember anything like that going on, but who knows, Kiss did it for a long time during the reunion tour with Criss.

Re: Priest/Queensryche -Boo!!!!

Oh man, I totally disagree. Priest was amazingly good at the show I saw.

True, Halford wasn't zipping around the stage, but then he was too busy singing well (tough to do that while moving fast) and also had massive boots on, as well as about 50 lbs. of leather and studs--you try running around dressed up like that. As far as costume changes, all he did was put on some different jackets occasionally, as well as a biker cap for the encore. In Virginia, he was on the stage (or on one of the risers) pretty much the whole show.

Also, QR played only four songs newer than Rage for Order in Virginia. One each from Mindcrime, Empire, Tribe, and the upcoming Mindcrime II. The bulk of the set was from The Warning and Rage for Order.

I saw them in VA also and QR started early so I missed the opener. The were playing Enforcer when I got to my seat, which a guy in my row said was their second song. Anyone know what they opened with? And yes, they did play a lot of older material, I doubt they would have changed their set much between Sunday and when you saw them on Tuesday.

BTW - Priest rocked! Can't believe you left early.

I saw the Cleveland show (which was the first show of the tour) and that is pretty close to what Ryche played here. Killer show but I wish they played longer. And they opened with The Whisper for those of you who missed the opening song.

You left early?!?

Judas Priest was amazing, they sounded incredible. All of Halford's costume changes coincided with stage backdrop and guitar changes, so I didn't really notice. Sure, he didn't run around like a 20yo kid, but he did hit every single note. Then man is in his fifties, and he sang Painkiller!

How many acts do you know that are JP's age, and don't have to be pushed onto the stage in wheelchairs?

Re: Priest/Queensryche -Boo!!!!

i saw that show last night and i thought it was great. Queensryche needs to lose the dork with the mowhawk, but i liked their set. almost everything was from the warning and rage for order, which are my favorite records they put out. i thought the new song from mindcrime 2 was shitty.

preist blew me away. i saw them when ripper was their singer and they were boring. i think being on a small stage with no set made them get confused because all they did was posture and rock back and forth. but last night was WOW!!!! the only thing that would have made it better would be fire and explosions.

rob never ran around like bruce dickenson. he has always just pranced around slowly with a lot of "robotto" and joins up for the syncronized "shimmy"! just go look at some old live footage of them. he's still doing all the same moves. just more leather and studs now.
