  • Pretty Maids tuning on beautiful Madness?

    it's funny really,
I just got into this band, learned to of there songs in one sitting. Probably took me about 30 mins to complete I.N.V.U and It comes at night.
So then I discovered Beautiful Madness and thought this sounds fun, hell I'll learn it 2. Well I can't figure out the tuning. Its some kind of drop tuning but it's very low like I'm thinking he's using 7 string guitar to get such a low chug sound. And it's also amazing how simple this sound sounds and I can't put it together.
So humbled by this tuning, anyone know what tuning he is using on this song? Once I get the tuning, I'm pretty good but maybe someone can point out the Main riff chords.
Whats really funny about this band is it damn near sounds like some of the songs I wrote 20 plus years ago. I like em and it's something new for me to listen to and play.
I never knew of them until my X drummer introduced them to me. He didn't know I didn't know about them.
    The Album is Pandemonium.

There's a theme. Pretty Maids, Ugly Dudes. Pretty Boy Floyd, Ugly Kid Joe.

If you listen to their tone, they use ENGL amps and ESP guitars. Sounds amazing. It's basically my tone and another reason I kinda dug them.
It's like left over 80's music with a newer twist and 80's lyrics. But I really dig the ENGL tone.

I'm way into the Engl Tone. What a great tight focused drive it has. It's something I would love to demo. I feel the demo would make me want to buy one. I gotta find someone in the area who has these amps. If it's a trip to NY so be it. I'll have to plan a day or weekend in NY to demo some gear. I'm getting tired of the crap around me as nothing exciting to go play. Gone our the days in my area anyway of killer gear to lust after. I tried with Black Star and the Pevey 6505 plus and it's just not working for me.
Marshall isn't really my cup of tea as even the JVM which I played years ago and dug are not anywhere to re plug in and experience them again.
The EVH Stuff I tried many times and keep walking away feeling like something is missing for me. There is something there as I keep trying them but the clean tones I think it the deal breaker. IF Eddie would put a Fender like clean on the clean channel , I think I would grab a 1 x 12 for home practice use.

be wary...i use both engl and soldano slo models...both sound great but either amp will set you back 2k easily...i've played both (how i knew how to dial in the models actually) and they are great...but...like marshalls, you gotta go through a few to find the one that speaks to you...since i no longer see the need to spend crazy money on musical equipment i get by with a modelling amp...the engl has better low mid frequencies but i prefer the high mids of the soldano to cut through a mix so i have to use both...and man i hear ya on the marshalls...there are exactly 2marshalls in atlanta that i like...both belong to rich ward and he never will sell them lol...d.m.
