I must say, as a fan of his wicked Jackson Soloist with the stickers etc, the stickers on his later ESPs weren't as cool... Bullet holes? Metal Mulisha? No thanks.

Also his cool and not so known BC Rich with different nazi dude's names is for sale too.

The Raiders one is pretty sweet, but they'll all end up being pulled over ebay's offensive materials policy.

To be clear, I'm stating this as fact, not my opinion on the rightness or wrongness of the policy.

The last one there had no Nazi names except Heydrich, who was assassinated in 42 and got a division named after him. All are the names of SS divisions- Germany, Viking, Realm, Death's Head, and two guys from the 15th-16th century the Nazis co-opted as historical "volk" heroes.

There was an Adolph Hitler division but I guess maybe Jeff thought that was a little too on the nose.

There is supposed to be one more put up soon, the one he played in the "Bloodline" video.

I had a Slayer poster on my bedroom wall in HS with Jeff playing the B.C. Rich.

Just saw Slayer for the 15th time last Friday...4th time without Jeff...

No knock on Gary, but's just not the same...

Best I could find on the net...

He probably got the same email I did. I got an email from ESP saying there were four guitars, that the other one would be coming to ebay soon.

Why is ESP selling them? Did he owe them money or something?

                  Here's the email...

                  ESP Community Member,

When Jeff Hanneman of Slayer passed away in May 2013, he left behind thousands of fans, as well as fellow musicians whom he influenced via his distinctive thrash metal playing style. Jeff also left behind a number of his personal instruments, so in conjunction with his estate, ESP is proud to help with the auction sale of some of his most prized instruments. A portion of the proceeds will go to a charitable cause that Jeff strongly supported: the Wounded Warrior Project.

Each instrument is a one-of-a-kind custom guitar that was in Jeff’s personal collection, and he is known to have played all of them on various Slayer tours and recordings. But wait, there’s more: each guitar is in the original case that Jeff owned and used to store and tour with these guitars, and some of the offerings have more inside the case than you’d imagine. Each guitar auctioned will als o include a certificate of authenticity from the Hanneman Estate. These guitars represent a huge opportunity for guitar collectors and serious Slayer fans alike.

If you're interested in owning a piece of metal history, click here for detailed information on each available guitar.

                  Thanks,

                  Your Friends at ESP

not to side track the thread but
out of the 38 SS division that were created.. im aware of no one named after him, could be wrong i guess.. care to enlighten me.. i guess its possible that the unit had yet to be formed before the war and even if it was created.. its military usefulness would be dubious at best..such as the 36th

if i was going to do a guitar like this I would of done it cuff tittles with appropriate font or the actual divisional emblems.. would of looked better..

yea..amateur WW 2 historian, tactician, strategist, and war gamer... thats me

onto the thread.. no way in hell id pay 12 g's for a guitar and thats just the starting bid.. dont care who played it

1st SS Panzer Leibstandarte Adolph Hitler- Sepp Dietrich's bunch. The title didn't memorialize so much as identify ("bodyguard, Adolph Hitler", in essence), but sufficient to say it was named after Hitler specifically and not after a German leadership position guard unit generally.

OK i feel bad as im slightly derailing this thread.. not alot of traffic on this forum and its not that often i can talk "shop" ..almost deleted this post but i already invested some time in it.. so excuse my indulgence on a topic i love as much as guitars

confused...as my inquiry was about Heydrich.. no unit was named after him..he was the head of the SS sicherheitdeinst .. the security arm of the allgemiene SS.. and had quite a bit of influence in the NSDAP but no unit was named after this one.. excuse the spelling as this is all done from memory.. these folks makes the gestopo look mild in comparison.

just curious as why he had the head of the SS-SD who personally signed the lives away of countless thousands.. personal hero as we all have em.. perhaps.. mine would be kurt meyer, earnst barkman, micheal wittman, joachim peiper.. YES i have american WW2 heroes as well.. OK 1.. George marshal.. he was pretty awesome as a general and head of the state dept.

im well aware of the 1st ss unit and EVEN know of the predecessor of it.. Stross trupp adolf hitler which was formed in '23.. the 1st ss panzer.. which actually did not come into being until 43.. before then it had gone through 3 or 4 different upgraded statuses..motorized regiment.. motorized division and panzer grenadier division..only a battalion was ever used for ceremonial duties or guard duties of the reichstag, hitlers personal residence, and alot of other high profile postings.. EVEN when the war turned unfavorably and all troops where needed at the front.. watch a doc on the 1935 Olympics to see them..sepp dietrich was its first commander and even the divisional patch caries his name.. the image of a key.. dietrich is key in german.. was the best panzer division of the war..and there where quite a few 2nd,3rd,5th,9th,10th,12th were all good.alot of good units in the army such as the gross deutchland as well. you can also see the key emblem in the unit symbol of the Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 501 which was a heavy tank battalion of the 1st SS panzer korp.. which dietrich was commander of in '43..

my knowledge is fairly good.. not infallible though

what im confused about .. several of those names where not "real" SS units and infact 2nd rate troops.. the 7th ss gebribs "prinz eugin" was a partisan/mountain unit that fought in jugoslavia.. florian geyer unit or 8th ss was a cavalieri unit that fought partisans on the eastern front..and neither where front line units and when they where used in such a fashion they did not fare very well ...the others i can understand as they where elite units and was always in the most crutial spots in the battle.. sure some elements did some bad sh*t in their short history but thats with any unit that were trained to be aggressive on the battlefield ...but partisan units and warfare was and is highly controversial form of warfare. these units specialized in bad sh*t as a whole..

always possible that hanneman saw these names in a book he was reading and just picked a few at random or with little thought..

must be some logic in his thought process ..

one last note.. the name brandenburg and which my forum name is derived from was taken not from the state of brandenburg.. nor the bridge, but from the Brandenburg regiment.. a special forces unit .. took the name when i was in a war gaming group.. i have had it since 2000 i believe
                              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandenburgers

irony is.. that in most sites i join, i cant use my real last name if i so choose.. yep.. my relatives where so german during ww2.. they wernt allowed to fight in europe.. just in the pacific.. AND the pronuciation was actually changed .. americanized version of my last name sounds like RICH.. i go by both when people address me.. german or american pronunciation.. i do prefer the german version though..
