  • Bands that have an early Sabbath sound?

I like that early Sabbath sound. Heavy on Fuzz. Heavy drums. Deep Bass......vocals....well sometimes Ozzy sounded ok
But I'm searching for bands that bring back that heavy riffing....any ideas?

Current bands? Hmm. Well Type O gave more than a nod to Sab, but they are no longer. I saw Kyng open for MegaDave this year, and they have a bit of a Sab influence (but are in no way a copy cat band).

The Sword are pretty good. They seem like a cross between Black Sabbath/COC with a mix of Slayer and Iron Maiden thrown in there, IMO. I only have their newest CD, Apocryphon, and it's excellent. I've heard some of their other stuff, too, but have not picked it up yet.

On some songs, but not all, the following bands can get into Sabbath territory...

The Sword, Red Fang, High on Fire, Black Pyramid, and last but not least, Heaven & Hell.

Sword kicks ass. They're obsessed with Game of Thrones, the books not the series. They're insane. Song names are hilarious ("How Heavy This Axe", "The Frost Giant's Daughter". And of course who can forget "Fire Lances of the Hyjsndnsjdndjsomething".

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Cool! I love C.O.C. I saw them twice and they were awesome both times.

Sweet! I'll have to pick that one up. I've never bothered with watching or reading Game of Thrones, though.

This amazing tune from the band Witchcraft has some 'Sabbath-esque' riffs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I-CBxSuYSg

You don't have to. I was listening to them before I touched the books and was clueless until I clicked the 2 together later in the game.

I see. Anyway, just playing my Dinky HX that I put 13-56 strings on the other day tuned to B to play some Carcass, but now I've tuned it up to C to play The Sword!

Orchid has to be the best Sab induced band currently playing right now.

                            Sabotage era as a mofo!

                            Graveyard is insnae.

Not Sab in the traditional sense but def influenced heavily...Windhand

The album "Firewood" by Witchcraft is on my top ten list for sure!
