Phil Collen's new Axe FX scaled down rig!

Saw Phil and Def leppard the other night in Montreal and took a few shots in the afternoon prior to soundcheck. I was expecting to see his standard rig that he has toured with for ages.

Was surprised when Scott Appleton, his tech showed me this highly scaled down unit.

Its basically a Furman Pl Plus DMX powering a RJM Gizmo for wireless switching, followed by a Marshall JMP-1 into Axe FX Ultra.

All fed into a super rare 80's Randall SS power amp that Phil loves to use.

All this replaced the whole monster rig including the TC 1210 Chorus, DMC Line Mixer and even Palmer Speaker Simulator.

Wow, and that's scaled down. I think I need to scale down my setup. Jealous? Well yeah, maybe a little.

So the JMP-1s are still there? I suppose that means the Axe FX handles effects and perhaps power amp and cab simulation for the PA?

Just has not had time to totally dial in a JMP-1 sound from the Axe unit....yet...

It would be interesting to see if Viv goes AFX as well.

Since I'm sure they have some isolated guitar tracks available, all he'd need to do is feed it into the Axe, which can duplicate it. Easy. I would bet that they could likely just feed the JMP straight into it.

That said, the Axe already has a JMP model on board.
