  • The Walking Shred!!!

Finally finished another song. It's not actually called "The Walking Shred." I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead tv show and since it debuted I thought The Walking Shred would be a cool title for a tune. However, it's too corny and this song really doesn't have enough shred to deserve that title anyway.

So here's "Lockdown." What do you think?

              Good stuff
Nice sound. Very classic "shred" era production on the guitars, it sounds familiar to me being a person who bought every shrapnel type album back then.
I don't know how do people get that sound. When i record guitars it sounds much more raw....But i guess i don't use effects much so that may be it.
              How about a gear rundown?

Yeah I would like to know that too.
What software or interface you use would help too.

Hey guys. As always, thanks for listening. I really appreciate it.

I do all my recording on my computer. The recording software is Guitar Tracks Pro (version 3) by Cakewalk.

                  http://www.amazon.com/Cakewalk-Guita.../dp/B0002E3LPK

It's awesome. I love it. Very easy to use and great features.

I use the Line 6 POD Studio GX interface with POD Farm software. See here:

                  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-a...-with-pod-farm

All of my guitar tones come from the POD Farm software. There are a bunch of amps and effects.
There is a HUGE list of presets. It took me forever going through them because when I'd get to
one that I liked, I'd start tweaking it by changing effects, changing speaker cabs, mic placement, etc.

Both of my main guitars have Seymour Duncans: JB (bridge) and Jazz (neck).
The JB seems to get that awesome 80s tone that I like.

If there is anything more specific that you want to know, please ask.

So far Journey Through Space (kind of reminded me of Iron Maiden),Breaking Point, and Brief Encounter stick out in my head. I mostly listened during my commute yesterday so I couldn't really match names with titles. Glad to see that you prefer the JB in the bridge, I haven't been playing long and it reinforced my decision to buy a Charvel for my first good guitar.
