  • Jcm 800 setting question

I'll finally be playing my JCM 800 50W MKII live
with a drummer and bass player this weekend.
Just a fun jam type thing. ( the drummers bad ass)
    Playing setting: Large living room.
I don't want to sound like crap.

    I use SL2H emg 81b 85n
    RMC3 Wah
    Boss OD-1
    JCM 800
    THD hotplate
    2x12 cab

What settings on my amp should consider for this type of jam?

    JCM
    Presence-
    Bass-
    Middle-
    Treble-
    Master-
    Pre-Amp-

    Hotplate
    -16db/ -12db/ -8db/ -4db/ 0 / ?
    bright- on/off?
    Deep- on/off?
    Volume knob on THD ?

I just need good ballpark figures.
    Thanks

        Going from Todd's settings:
I'd back off the treble and boost the mid. Pre @ 4 and master 5-8.
I have never tried a hotplate, and use a tubecreamer/SD-1 with the level higher than the gain or use a RAT. I love that f'n Rat sound.

Todd's settings are close, but with a few differences - mainly in the gain/vs level on the pedal and gain vs master on the amp and mid/trebel on the amp.

My two jcm 800s are 50watt combos - 4010 and 4210 - the 4010 is Treble heavy and 1 channel though.

For the hotplate try 4 or 8 progressively, 4 being the best sounding, 8 still acceptable, 12 bordering bad, 16 - don't go there.

For the rest of the JCM settings, really - almost anything will work, depending on your perseption and playing style. Try everying on noon, and everything on 11. Then try adjusting things that sound wrong to you in the range of 5-10. Most likely you will find your sound there.

Wow, good luck with that one, Finn. "Ballpark" will have whole new meaning after this
