XT is a lot harder to dial in, but I prefer the XT's sound. They made the amp emulations more realistic, and gave more 'digital rope' to hang yourself with. The older Pods were a lot more forgiving, imho... they weren't as powerful as far as options.

What about the Tech21 PowerEngine vs. the Atomic? I have a Korg AX1500G that I've dialed in a few good patches with but it never sounds the same through an amp (front end or through the loop). I've tried it with a Single Recto and Randall RH100, so it's not a matter of tubes or SS. Though it did sound better through the Recto. The Tech21 or the Atomic sound very interesting but nobody has them in stock to try out, so I would have to order from MF or music123.
