  • A question-Taking my gears on board

I want to take my guitar and amp on board, but they are heavier than the

limit, and the guitar is longer than the limit. Does someone know how to

take these gears on board? Or does somesone know which airline allow you

to take these things with you? By the way, I am in UK, the destination

    is Beijing.

    Many thanks!!!

Re: A question-Taking my gears on board

I know the follwoing for american airlines (might be similar for others):

Regular piece of luggage: 62 Linear inches and 70 Lbs

You can pay a flat extra US$100 for extra size up to 102 inches (or something like that). For overweight you can go to 100 Lbs I think if you pay US$100 extra. When a piece exceeds both linear dimensions and weight you pay US$200.

      That's what I know...

i don't know if the size depends or not but i have always taken my guitar as a carry on and but it in the coat closet when you first board the plane. i just ask the flight attendant that greets you when you first enter the plan and say "Ma'am, could you put this in the closet for me please?" and usually they'll take care of you. although i have never done this with a rhoads case or anything. i don't think the closets are that big. but so far my start style cases have fit.
