Hey, let me know what you think of the 6505+ 112 combo.. I'm looking for a tube combo and I have few options at my location. I can get the VKs or the 6505+ 112 combo, imported amps are just crazy expensive

I am thinking about a Marshall DSL 40C as a birthday present to myself next month. I will try it out in a store soon, but it is getting great reviews on the Marshall forum.

        Here's a clip of the DSL15C: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaqKt4pWVkY
        and the DSL 40C: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RC38mk9Xbw

The 40C can be cut back to 20w if you're worried about it being too loud, and looks like the price is just within your budget.

I donno. I'm not a big DSL fan myself. My DSL50 head has had more problems than anything and it sounds so brittle with way too much gain and all the push buttons are shit too. The green channel is good though, if you run an overdive and distortion through that like Paul Gilbert does or just use it cleaner. Is the only thing good about that whole amp and it is quite good. Otherwise, red channel etc. it's all shite.

Not sure if this have been mentioned before but Bugera 333xl and a used cab might fit your price range. Haven't tried it though.
