A couple years ago I went into the Des Moines GC and purchased a guitar and amp that wasn't there, a Schecter C-1 and a Peavey Valveking 212. Salesman told me they had it there when I called ahead of time. When I got to the store none of it was there, so I was told they would order it in for me. A week later I received a floor model guitar and amp. I was beyond pissed, the guitar and amp didn't work and the amp cabinet was broken too. A different salesman told me he would take care of everything ( I called the original a @#$%ing idiot, so we were done talking, huh) and took my guitar too a local luthier shop got it fixed and ordered in another amp, cool. A week later they called and told me the amp was there (previous was shipped to me) so I journey to the store only to find out that the other amp was a floor model and was broken the exact same way as the original I received. A new realm of pissedism came over me and to make things right they gave me 2 sets of strings, wow. Weeks later I finally received a brand new one in the box to my door, and came away with a lesson well learned. Mom and pop stores can usually match prices and give twice the service with real information.

Never trade in anything to GC. They give you approx 20% of what you paid on everything. Stick to Ebay, sell your stuff, and then go in there with cash and you can't do much better than that to save money at a GC. Personally they stink and there salesmen are hurting so they try and rip you completely off.

Well after all my bitching about GC, there was actually a couple of cool guys there willing to work with me and not rape me to bad, haha. Maybe it just take the right employees to get a fair deal. Thanks to a manager and a sales man I walked away not feeling bad about trading some gear. I know I'm gonna take some loss but damn don't try and steal it from me.
