  • NGD....1985 Soloist J1072

Finally....arrived a week or so ago, haven't had any real time with it, but dusted it off and took a few pix. Always wanted a black Soloist ever since I saw Gary Pihl playing one in a 1984 MTV Sammy Hagar concert. Until now it just never seem to happen. Anyway, cosmetically it is in excellent condition, great frets / nibs still intact, headstock tip mint, a small dent or two but that's about it. The electronics are another story .....a mish-mash of active / passive pickups / pots / battery jammed in the small SD cavity...yuck. Not a deal breaker though - I have new 500K pots and a Duncan Full Shred for the bridge. Once the J100 and the Dimarzio (haven't determined model yet) are breathing through the correct pots it should be good to go. Looks great next to J0345 (Ivory) and J2375 (Red / Blue Pearl)! Enjoy.......

I live near Gary and met up with him last year. He is no longer touring and works from home doing web design.
His kids play though. Probably inherited his axes too!
