  • NDG Early San dimas dinky

Sorry I accidentally deleted this post earlier.
I picked this up from a local Collector yesterday. I saw it listed on the bay and decided to jump on it as I've been looking for one of these ever since
I sold my snakeskin Strat back to it's original owner(sometimes I'm too nice a guy)
It's in great shape, has that typical oiled San dimas neck
I have not pulled off the neck yet to check the work orders but everything else looks to be in order on it.
    Route is correct shielding etc.
I am confused about the logo though as someone on another forum stated it looked like an 87 but this is an
early serial # and the logo is a "TM" logo. the made in USA is after the Jackson though and not under it?.
I did an online search and found a few "1986" San dimas head shots where the logo was like this one?
Can anyone enlighten me on the logo. I really don't want to pull the neck off if I don't have to.

no idea, the seller thought it was all original, it is an early floyd.

        Too early for a JT6 isn't it?

Very nice grab - I saw it on ebay too..

          I have an 88 tm.
I've asked for answers too. particularly since I am contemplating selling two of them, but would want to know the story first.

Logo. Serial plate. Case. All say TM
The trem just says Jackson, and I can't really see the tuners but they look like R. Maybe I will take a picture and zoom in to see.

            I would think so, wasn't JT-6 around 88?
ya lucky for me the seller was one town over so I jumped on it

I am going to vote no on the jt6.
Wouldn't there be a nut before the locks? That would mean that there should be some empty screw holes in the headstock from the old screws when the floyd locks were put on.

But I am not sure that the mix matched chrome and black hardware is original either.

Does the locknut look like a factory install, no added shelf? I just asked about the trem because the high e looks a little bit close to the one side. Jt6 was on 87 model series, I have no idea about when they made it to usa Jacksons. If it was a floyd nut retrofit there might be an extra hole under the truss cover. Is a top screwed nut correct for this era in usa jacksons?

Those are JT-6 trem studs in the body.

the high E is fine (I questioned that when I saw the listing) that is a big issue with me but it's fine on this guitar.
no shelf and it's not a top mounted lock nut. I'll take the truss rod cover off when I get back from the gym.
The black knobs look very new, they may not be original, the Floyd is an early floyd(screw in arm) Customer provided factory install maybe?

I have those studs in an 85 Soloist, or at least they look damn similar.

That's not unusual for chrome hardware.

Also, it has a rear mounted Floyd nut - that fits with a factory Floyd, but of course, could have been done after.

headstock without truss cover. I don't see any other screw holes here

                        shot of fret board.

+1 to all of this. I have the same studs on an early '86 Soloist, too.

And that's a sweet looking Dinky, congrats.

Looks all-original / all-1986 to me. Some of those large "JT6" studs actually take a SAE hex wrench, which I've never figured out. Yours might be like that, hard to tell by looking at a pic.
