  • Splawn / Slayer - Piece By Piece (clip inside)

Recorded and mixed this real quick at lunchtime: Slayer - Piece By Piece <- click there

    Gear used:
    Splawn Competition
    ENGL Vingtage Pro 4x12
    Jackson SL2H

I'll have to redo it as I can hear some mistakes and stuff.
I didnt have time to do more than one take for each track

I still find, feel and hear new little nuances in my tone everyday that makes me like my Competition more everyday.
How long till the honeymoon period is over?
This amp kicks all kinds of A$$ !!!

"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
    Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

Sounds Killer! I like the line
"On my wall, your head!" so cheesy

          Thanks.

The gain on that recording was set at 11 o'clock.
Its on 3rd gear using OD2.
3rd gear is the Super Hot Rodded JCM 800 mode.

              Thanks RacerX.

This amp is fun to play on.
Its one of those amps that makes you want to keep the riff going.

Scott Splawn nailed it for me with this amp!
I get awesome 80's/speed/thrash/death/metal tones on this.
Testament, Exodus, Slayer, Metallica, AC DC, Maiden, Hair Metal...I can even pull of some modern stuff with it.....but it excels at the tones mentioned.

1st gear is a like a hot rodded plexi,
2nd gear is like a hot rodded jcm 800,
and 3rd gear is like a super hot rodded jcm 800.
The JJ KT88's give it a menacing feel coming out the cab.

This amp gets very close to Slayers tone and vibe....but,
the amp that absolutely nailed Slayers tone and vibe 100% was a JCM 800 2203X with a Keeley TS-9.
The Keeley SD-1 also worked but I preferred the TS9.
