  • Great 80s riff! (Youtube)

Please rate and share with friends. This one means a lot to me cause the original artist Bill Tsamis will be checking it out and actually helped me to learn the song. Here's Aliens by Warlord...

    First!

"The main riff (second riff) is one of the best ever written and totally blew me away when I first heard it."

Well, quit jumping around so we can see it!

Check this out: Tsamis replied to a YT live clip with:

"This is William J Tsamis. The song is in Gminor. The main riff is a mix of legato hammering and pulloffs. This is done on the open D string beginning the hammering at frets 7, 8 and 10, and then pulling-off on the G string at frets 7 and 8. It is all done in this manner, and then descending on the same two strings to the 5th fret position, 3rd fret position, and back up to the 5th and 7th fret positions. No tabs, but hopefully you can work it out. Good luck! "

That comment gets you started but there's a lot more going on in that riff. He doesn't read tabs so what we did was I sent him a file for review and he told me what parts need tweaking. Really cool person and one of the best songwriters I know of. His playing has a bit of Uli Roth in it IMO but is even more classical sounding especially in terms of attack and vibrato.

Anyway I can provide a full tab soon if someone is interested.

BTW Yngwie liked the riff in the 80s and Bill showed it to him too. And YJM has mentioned in an interview in the 80s that Warlord was his favorite band.

I will. I wish more people would check this out cause they are missing out on one of the greats. I was blown away by the quality of all the songs and guitar work as well as drumming.

                  Thank you!

This is an amazing piece. I think i prefer your instrumental version to the actual song, maybe because the vocals cover the beautiful, melancholic guitars - or maybe because i heard this one first .

                      Thanks!
Be sure to check out the song "Lucifer's Hammer". That is a perfect power metal song. Another cool track is Child Of The Damned (also covered by Hammerfall).
