$600 tax stimulis

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China.

If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs.

If we purchase a computer it will go to India.

If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and
Guatemala.

If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan.

If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan...

And none of it will help the American economy.

The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes, weed,
beer, cigarettes, whiskey, and tattoos, since these are the only products
still produced in the USA.

Between my wife and I, we'll be getting back $1,500. The kid nets us an extra $300.
Sad part is, it will be a net $0 gain as we paid that much in federal taxes this year.

You won’t get a stimulus payment in 2008, if any of the following apply to you:

You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (whether or not you actually are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return). For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return

From how I read that...it doesnt matter if I am claimed or not.

Here's why you don't get a check.
As a dependent, your parents would qualify for a credit therefor you can't claim yourself.
By claiming student exempt status, you are already paying reduced taxes.
