  • housecall.trendmicro slowed down my pc... help!!

I running housecall.trendmicro and it downloaded a java update called microsoft advpack or something like that. My computer has since been running very slow. I thought I remember hearing that particular file is a nasty form of spyware??

I ran a few scans in safe mode and nothing has come up.. anyone have any ideas? I used microsoft antispyware, so of course it could not pickup a Bill Gates written piece of spyware.

I don't know if this makes a difference, but it said the file was downloaded to my startup registry...

Is it running when your PC Boots ? If so you can disable it with MSCONFIG.

I recently picked up Windows Defender, and I have to say it's the best anti-spyware/adware program I've used. I had tried everything to get rid of "timesink/adgateway", and it's the only adware/spyware program that I found that would get rid of it.

If you think it may be some type of adware/spyware try it.

        Try running it from

        http://housecall65.trendmicro.com

People report that using the housecall.trendmicro.com crashes and does not work...

It's not spyware or adware, it's a legitimate AV program...

Windows Defender? Does it scan rootkit software? If not, I have no use for it.
