Today is the day I realized there is a forum available for every imaginable topic or product! If it's anything like a guitar forum, I can picture members discussing the most esoteric aspects of their hobby... how to identify mystery hammocks, evaluating them on their pricepoint and quality, seeking out rare boutique hammocks, ordering custom hammocks, improving the comfort of a hammock, hot-rodding hammocks, how to beat hammock addiction after your huge collection of them takes up lots of space on your property...

and now even my kids really dont think that having been in a band in the 80s was that big a deal .or even if i play a small show with old friends. because in a way nothing is a big deal anymore for millennials or the whole world of people.

Lets face it ... I just went to California where i grew up and virtually no one even looked "American"..sorry but these majorities didn't grow up on Led Zepplin and The Doors Kiss and VH. They didnt have a BMX bike and try to grow thier hair long in JR high like me and my buddies... there was no skateboard park for them.

So what im saying is some of us .. lets call myself "older Guy" are retreating into Grandpa-dom because the world around us has morf-ed or is F-cked.

Just my two cents.. the world changed around us all really fast... in like 5-7 years i believe.

I’m with ya man, the new generation is a listening generation vs a playing generation, it’s still fun to play and talk about guitars though.

hopefully it will come around again, man those days were good

I think the fact that a lot of the bigger characters from here no longer check in or post, like Ron etc. there's no real instigators anymore. Wish it wasn't the case but...

In all honesty.... The problem is knowledge.
The pre-internet history has been established. The current history is online as it happens. What more do we need to post about?

I came here to learn. I learned. I stopped coming.

But you have to admit that your postcount shows you're not adding much to the content yourself

I have a Facebook. I don't use it. I will sign on when I get an email saying someone sent me a message or something.

And since CL has been taking a hit, I've even checked out the marketplace - I just don't like it. Everything is attached to your name, which gives people access to your families and stuff. I guess if your name is Bob Jones or John Smith and you live in a city of 1,000,000, not a big deal. But when you are the only person in the world with your name....
And I haven't even found a way to put things in order (newest at top). I have to scroll through hundreds of items that are months old in order to find a stray "posted 14 minutes ago".

It's terrible to look at since the update.... I've been stopping in off and on lately, but yeah it seems pretty dead around here. Glad I knew how it was back in the good days!!!!

EDIT ~ I just found the JCF Classic view!!! Much Better.....

No facebook here either.... and given the nonsense with that company couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Too bad. The forum has had its ups and downs but until the “update” it felt like it had reached a nice medium.
