  • NGD: Remington R1 1911

I picked up another 1911 at one of my favorite local shops today. It's another one like the Norinco I picked up a couple of months ago. It looks to have been carried a lot, and shot very little. The slide to frame fit is nice, and the barrel bushing fit is real snug. It's the first 1911 I've ever owned that I can't disassemble by hand as the bushing is too tight to turn by hand. I'm going to have to use the disassembly tool.

I'll be refinishing it by rust bluing as I think the old girl needs a new pair of shoes.

I don't know the date yet. I have an e-mail into Remington to find out. I'd guess it's one of the earlier ones since it has the ERPC stamp across from the serial number. If I have to guess I'm gonna say 2010, 2011 or 2012. I picked it up for $350.00 out the door.

I don't know if I made a thread on this one, but I picked this Rock Island Ultra SE MS a few months ago. The slide wouldn't lock back on an empty magazine. Shop sold it to me for $350.00 out the door too. They didn't know what was wrong with it. It was a bad slide stop, and Rock Island sent me one for free. It's been a damn good year so far for me on 1911's!

Rock Island makes a great 1911 in fact they are the largest producer of 1911's in the world.
I have a Rock Island 1911 that is the combo of a 22 TCM and 9MM. Just swap barrels and use the same mag. Awesome shooting gun.
Mine would not load the next to last round in the mag and the slide was gritty feeling so I sent it back and 3 months later it came back and they had given it a complete spring change smoothed the slide and tweaked the trigger to where it has easy take up and crisp break at 3lbs.
The pistol is perfect now and after at least 800 rounds it feeds and runs perfectly.
I will probably pick up one in 45 ACP soon or maybe a Canick TP9SF.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I ended up rust bluing it this weekend. Here she is with a new pair of shoes.
