  • Repentless

Mine just arrived, I got the version with the Bluray.
Only just listening to it, I'm digging it so far. Loved the title track as soon as I heard it a few weeks ago.

New Nile album is crushing too.
And new Maiden, love that one too.

Been a good couple a weeks for metal in my house!

Why is Araya going for a "Santa's evil twin brother" look?

Because he's an old man and a grandfather. New Maiden can't be that good, it's being out sold by FFDP.

Maiden were always outsold by pop bands and passing fads. Don't get me wrong, I've never even listened to FFDP apart from a couple of crappy Youtube clips but I read Blabbermouth's comments section lmao

Yeah I have yet to get this. I think I will dl it today. It is tough without Jeff. I can handle the absence of Dave but letting King run wild with the riff writing ughhh

He's written much of Slayer's stuff so I don't get all the hate. Everyone thinks he's a dick but when I read his interviews he just seems to tell it like it is and is probably the only one from the original 4 members that would be fun to go for a beer with. Regardless, Repentless is excellent.

I'll never understand why KK doesn't get BC Rich to make his guitars smaller though. They look stupid on him with the massive headstock and all, he looks like a fucking garden gnome holding them. Marty and Dan Spitz got Jackson to make them guitars to fit their tiny frame, why doesn't KK?

I've always preferred Jeff's songs, but Kerry's no slouch.
He was nice enough to me and my wife when we briefly met him at Mayhem Fest in July. I'm about 5'5" and he's not much taller.
I'll have to pick up Repentless some time this weekend.

I've always liked Slayer, I haven't heard the new album yet, I'll check it out though. Jeff and Tom have always been my favorites from the band, KK does nothing for me, Jeff could play circles around him and carried him for many yrs IMO. As for the scaling of his guitars, I guess he likes it like that.

I like Maiden, there album covers have always been bad ass and I like more of the classic stuff 90's back. I'm not into FFDP, I only know who they are because my boys like them. I like that they're on the right side of politics and educating these young guys as to how corrupt our government is, back in our day Megadeth did that and still does, it's just not as aggressive as it use to be comparably Peace Sells & Rust, Count Down.

Speaking of comments sections UG is a ton of laughs for the new Slayer

Kerry seemed to be a little better than Jeff in the early years, but Jeff surpassed him. I remember reading an article that Jeff liked the play a lot of Yngwie stuff at home and would practice on that quite a bit.

Seriously? I never got that from either of them. Holt seems like he's way more of a technician than either KK or Jeff, not like I care. I think Holt brought out the best in KK for this album, lead-wise.

That guy (Holt) is an underrated player. I've been a fan of his since it all started. They were always in Metallica's shadow... I read a lot of album inlays back then, Exodus always got a shout out.

I remember reading about that, that Jeff became more of a technical player and loved the neo-classical shred stuff. He didn't really show it with Slayer, though.

Holt definitely seems more technical and is a great match for Slayer.

I will never get why you guys in the USA never took to Annihilator and Jeff Waters the way they deserved. I've tried listening to Exodus and I just don't get it. Generic thrash with nothing to separate it from Sacred Reich, Kreator or any other B or even C rated thrash band. Then you have a guy like Jeff Waters who is one of the best guitarists ever and hardly anyone buys his stuff while wanking over Exodus and going on about how Holt's so amazing.

Slayer hasn't written anything better than horseshit for at least a decade.

Of course you can't replace Jeff. But I don't think they could have found a better person to stand in his spot. Exodus and Slayer have history going way back and Gary was pretty much already part of that family. Having seen Slayer more times than I can remember, the last show I saw with Gary just felt and sounded right. I honestly don't think there are many other guitarists that I would feel this way about.
