  • Vegas sucks...

So I just spent the last three days in Vegas for a work related conference and holy shit it got expensive!
I haven't been there in nearly 7 years, but where did all the $5 Black Jack tables go?
Cheapest table I saw at my hotel (Wynn) was $15 and there was only one table, and it was always full.

A frikkin burger at the Wynn was $18! No fries, no drink... just the damn burger. And was it a hand patted bastion of awesomeness? Nope.
Juts a Costco looking patty on a plain bun.
Even the prices of the buffets are stupid high now.
I remember eating all I could handle at the Bellagio for $25 on the last trip. Now it's pushing $75!

You would not believe that we're in a recession if you went there. Every place is packed.
I watched some Japanese dude rack up $1,400 betting $100 a pop in less than 10 minutes.

It's probably been 7 years since I was there last, and even then the $5 tables and 3:2 blackjack payouts were getting harder to find for me there on the strip.

Due to a lot of the states legalizing gambling, Vegas has taken a hit. I used to go there and you would see people standing in line to play with all the tables up and running. Last time I was there a couple years ago, more tables were covered and not used than were being used......and this was on a weekend. You could walk past rows of slots not being played. A true gambler is not going to waste the money to get to Vegas.....that is more money they could gamble with at a local casino.

All the freebies they used to throw out are gone, too.....unless you are a high roller. Vegas appears to be in the transition from " Sin City " to " Theme City "-Lou

          I hear ya Lou.
No more hookers and blow, now it's families and a show.

Looks like I'll have to hit the Indian casinos on the reservation next time I get the itch.
Only a 20 minute drive from the house.

Didn't get a chance to go there.
To cold there right now anyway. The Wynn and Bellagio pools were empty.

That's because shit that cost 5 dollars seven years ago cost 15 dollars now.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Even the Pennsylvania casinos start at 15. And that's during slow hours. Otherwise its 25.

I was there last March, and I can tell you I used to stand for everything that place exhibited, but it is now the biggest headache on the planet. I love to play poker, and we all know I love to handicap sports and the ponies of course, but it no longer holds the magic it once used to have for me. I was only there for two days and it was two days too long.

Once they opened it up to Average Joe, it went downhill. This is merely the natural progression of things. Eventually it will crash and burn, and go back to being that place in the desert where nobody goes.

At least, it'll go back to being a place where Average Joe doesn't go. In their khaki shorts and t-shirts and flip-flops or crocs and dragging the missus around with her orbital children while they all shove cheeseburgers in their faces and slurp on a Big Gulp and sweat like pigs.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

While I have infinitely more respect for the garbageman than the Mafia fuckheads who founded Vegas, at least the fuckheads dressed nicely when they went. A douchenozzle in a suit is still a douchenozzle, but dressing nice counts.

At least the garbageman has a better chance of knowing how to spell his own name, but shit, man, go buy a fucking suit.
