  • Equipment for multi-track recording

A good friend of mine wants to buy a standalone
multi-track recording unit for his home studio...

Hardware solutions only no software based please...
He has $1000-1500 to spend for the unit...
    (already has mics effects etc.)

    What do you/others use/recommend?

    Cheers!

I been looking into the Boss BR1600CD for some time now. I have no experience when it but have heard only good things about it.

Or you go with the BOSS 9 track for only about $550.00! Being digital
thats a TON o' possibilities! 16 tracks of digital is like 30 tracks of
the old analog tape units imo

I've been looking into this for quite some time, and the 2488 seems to be the best bang for the buck. I decided to build my own PC instead, but if I was going to go the stand alone route, the 2488 is the one I'd get.
