Good summary! It is said that you have truly learned something when you are able to reiterate it and clearly explain it to someone else. I think you have accomplished that.

Now I see why you took a while interpreting Mechayoshi and my advice about lining up the saddles and looking for the radius (the "arch" in your video). It really was not readily apparent in your new set of saddles!

Given the curve was not as pronounced, it simply means the radius is flatter. On a Jackson with a 12-16" compound radius fretboard, the radius at the bridge (saddles) should really be something close to 20" (very flat) anyway, so your nearly-flat radius saddle set would be closer to that goal than your more arched set.

Here is a thread I started about Floyd saddle radius. https://www.jcfonline.com/forum/equi...-saddle-radius

that's interesting, I can't imagine putting shims under the saddles as I'm always looking for lower action, not higher. You have helped in the past (thank you) and I was thinking about putting this into a normal YT video, but could imagine no one watching it. That's why I tried it in a youtube shorts format. But alas, no one really watched it anyway! well, z1n was happy and so am I!

To get a flatter Floyd radius, you shim the outer strings to bring them "closer" to the height of the center strings (or check your center strings for any existing shims and remove them). Then once the radius is set, you adjust your overall action via the trem posts to lower or raise the bridge accordingly.

Thanks to the internet and the ability to easily share information, many Floyd mysteries have been solved and there is an abundant supply of Floyd tech tip videos available. If you feel like you're entering a crowded space, I understand. If you're able to present old information in a fresh way, that's always welcome. I liked your summary video because it addressed the point concisely. Some videos are bloated and take forever to get to the core content.
