• '88 USA Jackson Archtop Soloist - value?

My brother nabbed this guitar yesterday, it's pretty cool.
I remember looking at this guitar used at a local shop 15 years ago, and it turned up for sale again. My brother was curious what kind of loot these are going for nowdays, we are both kind of curious if he got a good deal(or not). It's not for sale or anything, so don't ask. It's a great guitar fo sho! I wish it were mine, but I at least can borrow it. LOL
What about the neck single coil? Most of the ones I've seen had two humbuckers.

Are you sure it's not for sale??? It's a beauty, my friend, and yes, you barely ever see them with a single in the neck position. What condition is it in? Any problems with it at all? Serial #? Personally, if it was in excellent condition, I'd pay $2000 for it.....

You and me both Dave! That is one of the nicest arch tops I've seen from that era. 2k seems to be right on the mark to me.

Nice ax!

Dave, is it missing the 2 middle string through ferrules? I'd like to see more pics of that if you have them!

Oh my. Very nice. $2000 seems a bit high for a Student model, but that's just my opinion.
I've seen a few H/S/S configs, but this is the only H/S I've seen. Congrats!!

Wow. That is one beautiful archtop. Congrats to your brother on scoring that one. If you don't mind my bad manners how much did he pay for it?

I love the color and configuration of Single coil in the neck.

I used to think that too Eric, but for these era student arch tops, they didn't skimp on quality and materials. Pearl logo, pearl dots, brazillian rosewood fret board and sweet flamed tops (for the most part) on mahogany. I see the standard 2 hum studemt archtops go for around $1300 when they do pop up. This one looks mint and with that pickup config it sure is rare. 2k may be a bit high for fair market value, but I would pay it.

I wish I still had mine. I sold it to wayniac and he ain't budging on selling it back to me!

I didn't think 'Student' models had neck binding?
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

I like the way the Soloists look w/ body binding.

I know most of the student arch tops did, but I'm not sure about regular soloists. I don't think they did.
