  • Do you guys think this will be a wise choice?

I saw an ad for a DinkyProfessional XL '95. The ad says that the guitar has been modded with fr1000 and Seymour duncan TB in the bridge. The XL's condition is not that good (images below) so if I get it, I will have to repaint and furbish the whole thing. But, the XL is sold for pretty cheap. Meanwhile, I have a 2006-2009 dk2 with pile o skulls graphic with real seymour duncans. My guitars' condition is still really good with a clean finish and everything. I'm gonna need your guys advice should I sell my guitar and buy the XL or not since a lot of people said that Jacksons that have "professional" on their headstocks are better.

I am not seeing anything that needs repainted.

But, in general, I am not a fan of selling a guitar you like to buy one you know nothing about.

I would try the guitar first though if I want to buy it.

That guitar has been in like 10000 bars or at a heavy smokers house. Or maybe a direct sunlight for years. Maybe both.

What is pretty cheap? if its 200 then i would get it but if its 800 skip.

Auto parts stores sell different grades of polish. I'd get a scratch remove and finish polish. the scratch removers can take 1200 grit scratches out of it and would take off all that yellowing or any discoloration, then hit it with a finish polish that hardens. That's what Id do. Might need to buy a drill and buff wheel or you could use micro buff wheels stewmac sells or auto parts store sell 6 inch pads too.

Depending on the year, 400 isn't bad. My personal feeling is once they went to the 580 trem the neck radius changed and since I've owned 3-4 of them my feelings are most likely right.

Should be compound radius on all of them. if its from 95 it would have had the 580 and that routing looks like a 580 routing.

What are you even taking about, the fretboard? I'm talking about the back of the neck it's thick as in the tangent points of the radius comes out further!

My DK-2's from the 2000's have a fatter neck that I don't like as much.

For $400 the OP should just buy the new guitar and keep his Pile.

                        And I wouldn't repaint it.
