I would like some assistance in identifying this guitar I am about to buy.
The current owner doesn't know much about its history other than that it is from the late 90s and probably made in Japan
I am mostly interested in what model it is.
(my best guess would be that it is one of the Randy Rhoads models?)

Without seeing photos, but based on the scant description (Japanese Rhoads with a Japanese bolt-neck serial number format of 9xxxxxx), the guitar is likely an RR3 or RX10D.
