  • 1990 MIJ Bolt on professional?

    Hi all
Ive got a 1990 MIJ bolton neck Jackson. The guitar in configured like a Fusion Pro (with the weird tone circuit )according to what I see in the 1990 catalog. In fact it has the same cherry sunburst finish as the catalog.
It says “Professional “ on the headstock though. And does not say fusion or fusion pro on it. It’s got the 6 digit S\N beginning with 90
    my question is .

Is it unusual for a bolt on of that year to have a “Professional “ neck with a fusion style body and electronics? What model is it? Fusion Pro?

I bought it new in 1990 from a local dealer. It has never been bastardized as for as I know. Not by me at least.

    thanks

"Professional" was on the headstocks from 1990 to some point in the mid-to-late 1990s. I had a 1996 or 1997 KE3 that still had "Professional" on the headstock, but "Professional" largely disappeared after that classic 1990-1995 era when the Japanese product lineup largely changed.

Photos would help. Upload your photos at any free image host (https://www.google.ca/search?q=free+...4dUDCAg&uact=5), and copy-paste the generated links back here.

Otherwise, below are the two charts for Jackson Fusions and Charvel Fusions. You can use the specifications to identify the guitar.

If its specced like a Fusion Pro, its probably a Fusion Pro. Measure the scale length and you'll get your confirmation, Fusion are Gibson scale lengthed, and the only high end bolt on model in the line. The Dinky caps out at Dinky XL (Rosewood board), if its Ebony + Bolt On its 100% a Fusion Pro

Pictures speak more than 1000 words. Not all of them had the fusion on the truss rod cover. And if the Jackson logo is MOP then its one of the early PROs. And Gibson scale in this case means 24.75 inches.

Here is a few pics of the one i used to have:

here are some photos of my Jackson
note the MOP logo and ebony fretboard
this guitar has served me well over years. Only mod to it was a tremsetter I installed while I was doing country gigs (did mention it’s versitle as well). I have since removed it. Other than a a few chips and scratches, it’s still in pretty good shape. With OHSC

i really appreciate the quick responses I got here. This seems like a good group of people here
          thanks

You can tell just by the pickup spacing it's a fusion. Not all pros say pro on them. It's a PRO though. I'm pretty sure the trans ones were alder

I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.
