  • Replacement Neck for DXMGT Body

    Hi all,

It's been a very long time since I've been here and am glad to see that JCFOnline is still alive and kicking!

I'm currently looking into buying a DXMGT Body and a replacement neck, both 2nd hand, to attempt to build my own personal "Frankenstein" ala Eddie Van Halen but geared more towards Thrash Metal and Rhythm playing. I'm currently having trouble locating a Made In Japan neck from the 90s or early 2000s with the classic 6 in line headstock and a standard nut for a tune-o-matic bridge that I would be able to bolt onto the DXMGT body.

My question is: is it known if a neck from one of the newer import Jacksons made in say either China or Indonesia within the last 10 years be able to bolted onto an old DXMGT body? I.e.: would the dimensions of the neck still be compatible with the body despite the different production eras?

You all have been greatly helpful with past inquiries and so thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide here!

DKMGT/DK2T neck, pops up every once in a while. Though I think you can buy a whole DXMGT for 250-300 dollars, and Jackson necks are going for 200+ on eBay/Reverb.

Indonesian Jackson are all neck throughs nowadays, and Mexican has a different neck joint. Chinese JS necks has a slightly wider neck pocket so its not a direct plug and play like swapping Japanese jackson necks around

I see DXMG's show up fairly often in the 250 buck range. I found a DXMG recently that was significantly less too but I'm not in the market for one so I passed. I'd buy a complete guitar unless I already had a body lying around myself. I haven't watched for DXMGT's but I'm sure they'd be similarly priced to the DXMG's.

Case in point... 200 bucks. Not a DXMGT but still cheaper than piecing one together.
