  • What year and country of manufacture is my DXMG?

I was told when I bought the DXMG that it was a Japanese model. Now I'm not sure.

The serial number on the neck plate is 9714218

That's a Japanese format serial number.

    Specs and info: https://guitarinside.com/Jackson_Dinky_DXMG

This serial number doesn't necessarily indicate the date. Depending on what color and bridge is on your guitar, you could narrow down the date range. A specific date can be found if you're able to disassemble the neck from the body and look for date stamps on the neck heel and in the neck pocket.

Should be '03-4, but they can be wonky.
        96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Yes, but it was a "cheaper" model. Yes, even the almighty japanese factory made "lesser" guitars.
