  • weird Indo. Pickup Output problems

Hello everyone, thanks for the add:

I have a question about Jackson's Indonesian-made pickups' and some very weird output problems I've experienced: I have two of the new Jackson Kelly import guitars made in Indonesia and also own a BC Rich made in Indonesia, and I've had a weird, but similar problem with one of the Kellys and the BC Rich. I'll be playing and switching the pickup selector switch and all of a sudden, one pickup will just drop to like 10% output, and the guitar develops a corresponding buzz/grounding problem. I've had my luthier put in a new switch, and even check the pickup output, and it tests fine. Yet still the problem just appears out of nowhere and just as strangely goes away unexpectedly--the guitar will return to normal for no real reason at all. I'm completely stumped. This happens on both the Kelly and the BC Rich Mockingbird. Anyone have any experience with this and any advice or knowledge?

Is it your amp or cable if it happens to both guitars?
