  • Dk2m?

First time posting here. Had been looking for information this site came up often enough in my searches, seemed like the right place to be.
Picked this up from the pawn shop and the I'm pretty sure it's a dkm2. I had it set up and it's my new favorite. After stupidly removing all the strings, can't seem to get it back in tune and tremolo spring balance is wrong. I would like more info on it so I could learn to set it up myself instead of paying somebody else.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum. That's a DK2M.
You probably used a different brand/gauge of string than what was on it, so that's throwing everything off. If your Floyd is tilting back into the recess, you need to loosen the two screws in the string claw. If the Floyd is tilted up in the air, then you need to tighten the two screws of the claw. It may take awhile, but you'll eventually be able to level it out. Do a youtube search for videos on how to adjust a Floyd. Hope that helps.

      It's a DK2M, yes.

When you changed the strings you must have put on a new set of a different gauge to the old ones. Tune it whatever tuning you want it in, then see where the baseplate is sitting. If it's tilted up, tighten the springs in the back a little and retune. Do this until you get it flat with the body.
If the baseplate is tilted down into the body, loosen the springs and retune. Rinse and repeat...

Next time you change the strings, do them one at a time. If you need to clean the fretboard block the trem with a rag and peg or something like that so it doesn't fall inside the body.

      Congrats on a sweet guitar!

Looks like you're in the right place. Welcome.
            The serial should be 2007ish.
            That tremolo is a JT580LP.

Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what I did, changed the gauge of strings. Tightened the spring claw, 1/2" of space left and still rides up a little. It seems when I tune the D string it throws the rest out of whack. Maybe that's another issue also. Had it right once before and it didn't take this long to tune so assumed I was doing something wrong. Will keep at it till it's in tune And stick with changing one string at a time. Thanks again

Here's a good guide on how to float your bridge.
