  • NGD - DK2S flame red

I saw this on ebay for £250 including a really nice Gator hard case and since I always wanted a Sustainer I had to go for it. The pickup in the bridge is, I'm hoping, an X2N. It certainly looks like one, the DC resistance is in the general area and it sounds great. I've ordered black hardware to replace all the chrome and I'll find out what the pickup is when I strip it all out.

I love it, its one of the better MIJ Jacksons I've owned (and I've had a few now) - sounds, looks and playability, it's just a great guitar for the money, especially when you factor in the hard case, sustainer and possible X2N which is a pickup I've always liked. I had Duncan Designed single coils in an old DK2 before and really liked them. This one here sounds really good in the notch positions which is all I'd use it for anyway.

The only problem is, I don't have a band any more so none of my guitars will get much use!

Here's some pics, I'll put more up once I put the black hardware on!

DK2S, aye. With the Sustainiac. Bit heavier than the JDR-94 with a slightly thicker neck. Just as playable though!

        Nice score, good for you.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Ok, so that was before. Here it is now. Wilkinson tuners (EZ lock, like it's needed. Pain in the arse actually cos I like to just put the ball-end into the tuners and it doesn't fit on the low E string!), black Jackson JT-580 LP and YES! It's a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge, I pulled it out and checked. :-)
This is a beast of a guitar, it plays great, sounds fucking amazing and look at that top, it's gorgeous. The sustainer is really simple to use for those Phil Collen style effects too.

Thanks man, it really does. I'm happy with the chrome on the SL3, the colour seems to suit it okay, but the red looked shit, frankly, with the chrome hardware.
If I could find gold Jackson hardware for the SL3 I might put that on...

Nice, I played one of these models about a year ago in my local guitar store. Thought is sounded great and the sustainer was excellent.

Definitely looks much better with the black hardware. They used that goofy brushed aluminum hardware only in 2000-01 so at least you now know when it was made.

Great score! Diggin' your yellow star too - just don't beat the crap out of it Chris Holmes-style.

Awesome guitar. I'm saving for a PC-1 but I'm worried about the issues I keep reading about regarding the sustainer in it. I've thought about this model if I get cold feet. Great score.

Thanks all! Lepard, the hardware wasn't brushed aluminium, just the same regular chrome that used to come on the MIJ models. My SL3 has the same stuff.

Ahhh, I see. In the 1st pic the trem looks like brushed aluminum. The 2nd pic looks chrome.
