  • N(R)GD: Pavo Purple Sparkle Warrior Pro

I recently acquired a well-played and loved on 1990 era Warrior Pro. The guitar was in fantastic playable shape and all original, minus worn paint and some slightly bad cosmetic issues. I owned a pavo purple WR1 some years back, which I sold to a Swedish dude in order to fund some other custom shop stuff. I'd always missed the guitar and was thinking about doing a Custom Select in purple, but the purples they offer aren't quite 'it'. I contacted Marty Bell about the project and we were very quickly under way. We decided to up the sparkle a bit with a larger flake but kept true to the actual purple-ness. I shipped the guitar to him August 28th, and I received it back yesterday. Insane turnaround time! Some of you are familiar with Marty but this was my first time using him. I have to say, he's amazing and this is totally how getting a custom refinish should be. His work is pretty flawless and even though it was a short time, he kept me updated on it. He even managed to save the original pearl logo. I saved a ton of money doing it this way and got the extra wicked slanty goodness of an original Warrior. The depth of the color is not really represented by the pics but hopefully you get the idea. So stoked about this one!

Looking for un-molested slant fretboard early USA & Pro Warriors!

Looks great! I've had good luck with Marty as well. Any trouble getting the covers to fit back on?

                I hate you. Congrats!

I don't remember this model ever being available in that finish in the catalogs. Might be an aftermarket finish.

I think he had to do some wiggling to get the bridge pickup back in. As far as I know the Pro's only came in pearl white, red, black, yellow, and pearl blue. This one was its original black when I got it. I'm not much for black guitars usually, but it was a little hard to send it out even though it kind of needed it.

Wow is right. I always think of Warriors as a blood splatter or some sort or gruesome paint theme LOL!

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

That is some huge flake. I love it.

Very cool all around. Always good to see a 90s warrior having new life breathed into it.

Yeah, especially since he did state he sent it off to be painted
